I love Düsseldorf, small town with a heart of a big one. You can see how hard it’s trying to keep up with the big hype modern cities. You will find here a lot of modern and interesting architecture (“Medien Hafen” is a must see!). Also a lot of yummy restaurants, coffee spots and concept stores – and you know how I love that kind of stuff.
We came hungry and ready for lunch. We haven’t eaten Mexican for a long time so we decided to go to Casita Mexicana. After trying their food I realized that I never actually had real Mexican food until then. The tastes were so different than what you usually get from your local burrito place. This is the real deal.
Tortillas for tacos and burritos were homemade, nothing like tortillas you can buy at the supermarket or which you get in some other Mexican-type restaurants. And filling was to die for, they had a few of them and you can choose which one you want. I have tried two fillings: the Pibil (typical Mexican slow cooked pork in a orange sauce marinade) and Pollo en salsa verde (chicken marinaded in green salsa).
Happy and satiated we were ready to explore the Christmas market. We strolled from the Old City to Marktplatz where the super cute market was. When I saw that big Ferris wheel I thought I was in London! We haven’t took a ride, unfortunately, it was super cold and I was craving for warm coffee.
Luckily, directly on the Marktplatz is the Rösterei VIER and I have heard that they have yummy coffee. And it was true, stuff was super friendly too, waitress told me that I need to try their cheesecake muffin, and she didn’t need to tell me twice, <3. Definitely coming back when next time in Düsseldorf. I almost forgot to tell you that you can climb up on the first floor and have a coffee with perfect view on the Christmas Market.
As we all know – a little of shopping never hurt anyone – so I went to Beyond Studios. Beautiful concept store with huge plant problem and nice choice of Scandinavian designers. Take a look of the photos and everything will be clear, you will want to go there too, immediately.
